Yerba Mate Gourd Curing




How To Cure Your Yerba Mate Gourd

1. Fill your new yerba mate gourd 3/4 of the way full with fresh yerba mate.

2. Fill the mate gourd with hot (not boiling) water.

3. Let the hot water absorb for 30 minutes.

4. After 30 minutes, the water level will have gone down due to absorption. Add hot water to fill the mate gourd again.

5. Let the gourd sit for 24 Hours.

6. After 24 Hrs. remove the Yerba Mate and gently scrape the inside of the mate gourd with a small spoon to remove loose debris.

7. Wash the inside of the mate gourd with hot water (do not use soap!).

8. Repeat steps 1 through 7 one more time. Now you are ready to use your new mate gourd.
